Family Adoption News

“Adoption is a beautiful picture of redemption.  It is the Gospel in my living room.”  -Katie J. Davis

If you’ve spent any time with our family, you know that foster care and adoption are woven deeply in our hearts.  Over the years, there have been several times that we prayed, (begged) the Lord to grow our family through adoption. Each of those tear-filled prayers ended with us laying down the desires of our hearts.  Each time, as we grieved His decision, we proclaimed His goodness and faithfulness.  I know that He is ALWAYS good, even when my broken heart doesn’t feel that goodness.
Several months ago, we got a call letting us know that the baby girl we fostered during our last year in China was available for adoption.  A baby girl that our family knew and loved.  We were completely smitten with her.  We found ourselves in that familiar position of asking the Lord to make a way where there was no way.  This prayer time was different.  His answer, “yes”, came quickly.  We weren’t promised the ending that we wanted, but in obedience we began to take steps to bring this little girl home.  We can’t wait to share with you the incredible miracles that have accompanied each step forward.  We are humbled by the generosity of our Gracious Father.  Our hope is that we will have our daughter home by the end of this year.  We have some prayer needs if you’d like to join us on this amazing journey.  My number one prayer request is for the salvation of our daughter’s birth parents.  We don’t know the circumstances that brought our daughter to the orphanage, but we are aware of the sacrifice that her birth mother made to make sure she would be safe and cared for.  I think of her often and wish I could thank her for giving us the chance to love her daughter.  Romans 8:16-17 says “The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs – heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ.”
We would also like prayer for the final steps in the adoption process.  We want each phase to be completed in God’s timing.  We would also like to praise Him in advance for His provisions for the finances needed to complete the adoption.  Please pray that the Lord would already begin to heal the wounds in this little girl’s heart and that she would grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  To HIM be the glory both now and to the day of eternity.
